# What is dazie?

> dazie is a voice-first journaling companion. You talk, it listens, and it turns the conversation into a journal entry, insights and follow-ups.

dazie is a journaling companion you talk to instead of type to. You have a short spoken conversation about your day, and dazie turns it into a written journal entry, picks out patterns over time, and remembers what you told it so the next conversation picks up where the last one ended.

It is built for people who want the benefits of journaling but never keep up a written habit. Speaking takes less effort than writing, and a companion that asks a good follow-up question gets you further than a blank page.

## How dazie is different from a journaling app

Most journaling apps give you a text box and a prompt. dazie runs the conversation for you: it asks what's on your mind, follows the thread you choose, and asks one more question when an answer is short. You never have to decide what to write about.

<Note>
  Scheduled phone check-ins are in early access. Today you journal in the dazie web app. See [Scheduled calls](/guides/scheduled-calls).
